Chocolate Milk Anyone?

I really don't know if anyone cares about these details, but I'll share anyway. I just returned from the hospital and Danny passed his swallow tests today! This is a HUGE deal because he has been so thirsty and it has been torture for all of us to deny him liquid. He requested his favorite morning beverage--chocolate milk! I'll never forget the look on his face as he took his first sip--pure joy!

He was doing so much better today. He was calm and able to sleep. His breathing had become much more regular and less labored. I think we are all realizing that this will continue to be a roller coaster and we just have to ride it out.

Just think Danny, in a few days we'll be able to bring you donuts to go with that chocolate milk!

  1. Man, he must still be delirious. For a guy with world record cotton mouth, I think that milk is the wrong choice. Maybe some gatorade or water or something....

  2. im with danny on this one...sometimes nothing quenches thirst quite like milk. dont ask me to explain...its a mystery. a delicious one.

  3. Awesome Danny! That's my breakfast of choice too so I can only imagine how hard it's been to be deprived... :) - Shawna

  4. To answer your question Catherine - yes, we love all the little details. It's the small milestones that will add up to Danny going home. Thanks to you, Jan & Judy, and Andy & Debbie for keeping us all up to date. And I'm with Andy on this one, but who are we to say what would taste good after not having anything to eat or drink for over a week.

  5. Great news! We here are all glad to hear, and choc milk tastes great...but maybe not with cotton mouth ;) Better that, then nothing though!!

  6. Just want to second that yes we love all the details! Thank you for updating and letting us all know. (This is Josh's sister)
